OK, this is a reason why I should die right here.

I made an honest mistake on my time sheet today. I forgot that I showed up to work one hour late last week because my usual bus was a missed trip and did not show up at all, so I had to catch the next one an hour later. My boss called me, took note of this mistake, and accused me of trying to steal from the company. I apologized and said it was an honest mistake. My boss did not want to hear it.

I will spend the last of my cash having a blast this weekend. A final blast. A final grand great time.

That seems like an extreme way of dealing with the situation.

Dying. 😐

Can you try contacting the bus people and getting a printed statement
about the bus having been late?

The problem was not that I was late. The problem was that I put down that I showed up on time because I forgot I was late that day, and the boss accused me of trying to steal an hour's worth of wages from the company because of that.

This weekend will be drinks, exquisite food, fine cigars, the most potent weed. I will max out my credit card to make it happen, because why not at this point?

Yes, I understand that you forgot.

What's the possibility you could offer to make up the time
by working extra?

Because that would be dumb. That's why. And you're not dumb. /SPOILER]

It's not the hour I missed that is the problem. It is the fact that I unintentionally lied about it. Trust is broken and this job will not last much longer now. I really screwed up big time at this point.

My blood will be the price I pay for this transgression. I will never find another job as accommodating as this one has been.

@Metalhead,
What you described (a mistake on a timesheet) is quite common.

Think of what you would tell someone else who described this mistake to you. Maybe someone here on the forums.

Would you truly recommend that another person spend all their money and check out early?

Why are you not allowed to make the same menial mistakes that others make?

Other people have things worth living for in their life.

Is there a way you can talk to HR about this?

You are not at fault here, you did the right things by apologizing, taking ownership about your mistake and tried to fix it

The one at fault here is your boss, not you

It was HR who notified my boss about this. HR is on my boss' side.

I am looking at nightlife in my town right now. There are a few bars nearby with live music. I don't drive so getting wasted and walking home won't be a big deal.

I know it's very redundant to say this, but it is something I tell myself whenever my thoughts get the best of me and I want to ground myself and I'm telling you in hopes that it will help you because you matter and because I care:

"Don't take a permanent solution for a temporary problem"

Please, you are important

Even if your mind is screaming otherwise, even if what I'm telling you seems to not be true to you at this moment

You are important and you matter

It is NOT worth dying over. A lot of us on here have lost jobs. You might get a job you like better even if they have fired you or something. If they haven't actually fired you yet, you don't even know for sure that they will.

I am not that important to my RL friends. Somebody who once I thought of as being a close friend is now brushing me off completely, claiming to always be too busy to talk to me because they are avoiding me.

Just because someone you care about is ignoring you, doesn't mean that your life doesn't matter. I think most of us on here have been shunned before. Try not to concentrate on the negative things so much.❤️‍🩹

You need to recover from your addictions and have been making significant progress. Don't give up. You do matter and you've come too far in overcoming your addictions to give up now.
