Nut guru

So nuts must be soaked and then roasted, seems lately lot more soaking and pre-prep....
It depends on the nuts. I lived in a place that had an almond tree in the back yard and they're fine. I like them roasted and that's real easy, just put some almonds in a bowl with a knob of butter and microwave them for a few seconds.

In tropical regions a lot of traditional people use flour made from Cycad nuts to make bread. If they're not leached properly before using they are deadly.

I don't like soya, so adding gelatine and millet to soup.
Millet has one highest sources of protein for celiac, I don't like soya and its a real trigger.
My son does eat meat, so just add this with his chicken and I'm hoping he will gain weight.

Rising my grains a lot, lately. Soaking and discarding water from beans, parboiling, discarding water and then adding to soups.
How IBS has taught me about allergies.

My mother had that, for her the worst thing was the seeds in tomatoes.

I like soy sauce but can't stand it in any other format. I tried tofu once and had to spit it back out, something in my brain or my body automatically rejects it as a poison.

Canola too, I can't eat margerine, it makes me feel ill. Interesting note about "canola", it's real name is Rape Seed. Back in the 70s there was a rash of medical reports stating that Rape Seed Oil was carcinogenic, at this time the Canadian government had just invested millions of dollars in rape seed plantations and now they were worried that they'd have no buyers, so they invented a new name for it. The name comes from Canadian Oils Association.

No wonder it didn't have buyers. The name makes me imagine that the rape pill is made of this seed, so it's poisonous or psychoactive in a bad way.

I eat soy... or rather processed soy products.

I wonder if my allergies to nuts aren't caused by improper preparation rather than allergies. Less likely with mass produced food, more likely in gastronomy.

In different industries it's still called Rape Seed, or Oil Seed Rape. I have no idea where that name came from, it's thousands of years old and probably didn't originate with the English language.

It's only when it gets to the supermarkets that the name suddenly changes to Canola.

It's yellowish flower, smaller than sunflower. I'm not sure originate but Netherlands brought it over to America's. It wasn't edible, but not as good as motor oil, has sticky residue. It's used in mayonnaise as well, it's in everything, most smoked fish tins to olive tepenada. It's all the low-fat margarine.

Took me while to try get the gelatine to soak, get it right, maybe just boil bone soup. Hoping it will thicken my hair, cure anaemia. I am thinking this old diet makes sense for Europeans had health issues due to diet in snow. Say fish oil vitamins have toxic additives. I'm just tired of trial and error, don't want to try anything new or risky as I've just fixed my IBS and don't want that again. Maybe just eat white rice, boil some bone broth.

I use very little frying oil, it's bad for veins, so sometimes have tried chips as gluten free. I have being using coconut oil for cooking, which is amazing. You should try it.

I use Rice Bran oil, very popular throughout South East Asia. And I bought an air fryer, a much healthier way to cook.

[Edit] I'm not sure that the air fryer really is that much healthier though. It's definitely a healthier option than deep frying, but I now find myself eating Chicken Nuggets and Chips a lot more often because it's so quick and easy. :)

I saw the title "nut guru" and clicked so fast because I was so intrigued xD

I'm bothering with this kind of stuff now because I kind of have to. Mostly IBS but also autoimmune symptoms that look just like lupus for over 7 years now and I've had vision loss from it. I tried minimizing gluten for awhile, then one day I ate nothing but pizza, then I experienced every symptom of intolerance. So I'm gluten free now but would also like to try to figure out my IBS. I know that dairy makes it worse.

It doesn't surprise me that nuts are poisonous, as I've heard many are in one way or another. I generally don't like them much. Macadamia's are my favorite though and hazelnuts I like better than others.

For my mother it was the physical properties of nuts that she couldn't cope with, or anything small hard and sharp. The pips in tomatoes were another problem for her. Other than that I can't remember her being terribly different in her diet to what she always ate which was pretty much anything and everything.
