New direction

I hope something good happens to you today

I have been wanting to go in a sort of new direction with what I paint. Here are some early attempts so far.

Red seems a very prevalent color for you. Do you like the intensity of the red hue? Your new painting shows distance using a horizon line, along with the pathway. Way to go!

It is more coincidence with the red, I have a commissioned piece and the request was for a bright sky with warm colors. The path painting was a lot of hot pink tones but when photographed it looks red.

I do love intense/ bright colors of all kinds but tend to be more into blues and purples than the warm colors (except I love hot pink).
Here are a few “in progress” pieces I’ve been working on

I see more sophisticated blending of color, along with creating more textures within each object and color.

Looks like you've stepped up your game, Rocco.

Still working through a new idea, and coming up with variations for the commissioned road/mountain piece.
Neon colors are very difficult to capture the true color in a photo. The pink sphere was done with metallic white as a base, and with flash it turned white in the pic.

Thanks much @jsilver256
I made that phrase almost 10 years ago and it’s not quite as accurate these days. Perhaps time for a new direction there too.
That took a while to figure out, but I got it :) I am happy to change that and smiling now, thanks again :)

I am trying out paints this week that actually glow in the dark, not just neon colors only. In this one the pink in the clouds have highlights of glow in the dark hot pink: I also mixed white glow in the dark paint in with the brown acrylic used on the trees body. I feel excited about the glow in the dark paints! I am still struggling with how to correctly photograph the colors. The painting with the paint containers on it is a mix of light and dark dioxazine purple, but shows up as all blue in my screen. The only blue in it is a white and blue cloud layer 🤷‍♂️
