What method did you use that made it so experimental? I'd love to hear about it![]()
What prompted you to attempt such an upgrade, as opposed to simply executing a clean installation of Ubuntu? Just wondering. I've installed both separately before...
I've also switched the desktop of Mint to both Gnome and KDE Plasma before. Something that Mint developers discourage. Interesting, but at times it was less than stable. Making me realize how stable Mint's default desktop "Cinnamon" remains.
I have to admit, sometimes Linux can be fun to monkey around with....![]()
I wanted to prove that I successfully did it, although with some system errors, but it works![]()
Sounds familiar.
When I added an earlier version 9.0 of Wine in Mint's repository without formally deleting the existing 11.0 later version, it spit out some warnings...but ultimately let me do it anyway. Giving me back the functionality I expected running a very old version of Photoshop.
For whatever reasons, Wine 11.0 took away the functionality of the opacity slider tool, apart from making minimizing the window run erratically.
I also recall with Pop!OS22.04 when I was trying to learn about Gnome extensions and placed custom dock icons into the wrong folder and directory, which resulted in the OS failing to reboot. That was ugly. Luckily I eventually figured out how to properly apply any such Gnome extensions and themes.
Though I have to admit, I don't think I'd want to upgrade one distro to a different one. Opting instead to install it under the most conventional circumstances. But still, it's interesting that one could actually do it.
