Matrices-Based IQ Tests

This is a question for anyone who has taken a formal matrices-based IQ test (Raven's Progressive Matrices and the Welchsler subtest are the ones I know of) and one or more of the many informal matrices-based online tests:

How did they compare in terms of difficulty?

There seems to be two different levels out there. I didn't get very far on the harder one. I used to struggle with the last three questions on the basic one (correct answers were not provided*), but I think that I figured them out.

I have since aced an on-line Ravens and the WAIS-IV sub-test.

*During the WAIS-IV, they said on-line tests were okay as long as the correct answers were not revealed.

I perform far better on matrices-style tests than purely verbal ones, they're definitely a lot easier for me since verbal skills aren't a strength of mine (HFA here). I took a formal one back when I was 6 or 7 I think, as well as many of the online ones. All my scores are right around the 130 mark on average, but I'm a bit suspicious about how the online ones get scored.

On the WAIS-III I took for my re-diagnosis I only scored in the high average range overall. The WAIS was tougher, but then my verbal skills are somewhat flaky so there you go.
