Marijuana strains for socializing while aspie

Hi all,

I'm 29/m with asperger's and I notice that when I smoke weed, it's much easier to "connect" with people around me on an empathetic level. So much so that I didn't even realize that empathy was a real literal sense in the way people describe it until I started smoking in my early 20s. I've seen many threads by other aspies who experience the same, and Switched On by John Robison (Electric Currents And An 'Emotional Awakening' For One Man With Autism) describes the same thing, but induced by TMS.

A big problem is that not all strains do this, and I live in the southeast right now and can't reliably control what strain I get, so I don't know what strains to look for. I'm moving to a recreational legal state soon and was wondering if anyone who has had this experience could give me some strain recommendations? Ideally something that leaves you clear-headed and alert, unlike the couch-lock/sedation typically associated with indicas, but without anxiety/paranoia that certain sativas can have. I've had strains that turn on empathy in a very functional and clear way, ones that don't do it all, ones that make certain nonverbal cues seem more exaggerated but without producing genuine emotions, and others that have side effects like sedation or anxiety/paranoia that can occur with or without the empathy bit. Advice on strains to avoid is appreciated too!

Thanks

eljefephd,
i iknow very little on cannabis strains but i grew purple kush once as it seemed like a good choice but again i was very little educated on it,it was more of an experiment really i wanted to see how well itd grow without lights on a hot sunny window sil and they grew very well until a support staff recognised them and 'grassed me up'.
im like you although im classic autistic not aspie;cannabis works for me on interaction and socialisation to,but being illegal here i use CBD oil in a vape stick instead which as you will know is a component of cannabis that gives you the relaxation and pain relief but because its not psychoactive they cant stick an illegal label on it [but you just know the prudish british government will at some point]

i can only recommend getting a strain high in CBD but with significant THC, CBD really helps me,i think its a great idea moving to a cannabis friendly area id love it to be legal here in the UK,ive smoked it a few times and its helped me so much more than all the anti psychotics will ever do.

Hi there eljefephd :) Good luck in the new environment!

I think from documentaries I've seen, that those states which legally allow the medical & / or recreational use of cannabis have really well equipped outlets where staff are well able to advise their customers on plant strain specifics, according to personal requirement.

In UK, we need somebody wealthy & interested enough to take on in court, the absurd prohibition of this herb, which has been shown many times over to be beneficial in alleviating some symptoms of serious illnesses like: Epilepsy, Parkinson's Disease, Arthritis & MS & others.

To continue to ban & criminalize its use in the 21st century is absurd & inhumane in my opinion.

You are looking for a sativa. Indicas give you that couch lock feeling while sativa are more mentally stimulating. So strains are usually hybrids of both genetic lines but most are indica or sativa dominant. Look for a pure sativa or a sativa dominant hybrid.

You like star trek AND know your weed. Awesome

I have a medical marijuana license and indica helps SO much when I have seizures. I basically get a seizure when I'm stressed out like the other night I had a seizure and a splitting headache, smoked some indica and went to sleep.

I think clearer, I can make boring stuff fun and most importantly it calms me down and doesn't harm my body like pills or booze.

Recommend those of you using do not smoke it- get it in some less harmful way. There's a belief that smoking it doesn't have negative effects like smoking tobacco- it's just as bad to smoke weed as it is to smoke tobacco. Make brownies or tea or use some other way.

Some research suggests that, while there are health risks associated with smoking marijuana, they are not as severe as the risks associated with smoking tobacco.

Not sure how good the research is, and I don't think anyone is drawing firm conclusions at this point, but still....

Does smoking marijuana increase the risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease?
