This can also be good. Brown sugar is basically white sugar with molasses added, and molasses is a by-product of taking the nutrients out of cane to make white sugar. Seems a bit backwards, but has a much different quality than pure crystalized cane sugar.Real maple syrup is lovely.
But if you don't have a lot of money, a syrup of equal parts brown sugar and water can be made.
