NEW YORK (WABC) -- A former aide to a New York City Council member says the lawmaker and a senior member of his staff subjected him to cruel bullying that included decapitating the stuffed animals on his desk and locking him in a basement.

Michael Bistreich, who has Asperger syndrome, filed a $10 million lawsuit against the city and Brooklyn City Councilman Vincent Gentile on Tuesday.

"It was hard, it was very hard," said Michael Bistreich, a former Gentile aide.

Bistreich will never forget how it made him feel.

He worked as a proud young legislative aide, with an office across from City Hall, the budget director for Brooklyn City Councilman Vincent Gentile.

He says Gentile came to resent him, because Bistreich is autistic.

"If you watch actually, you'll see my finger is twitching, it's very difficult to control," Bistreich said. "And then he pointed to his head and asked me if it was something I could fix, what was in my brain that was making it happen."

One day he came to work and discovered what he calls, "stuffed animal mutilation."

His workspace was seemingly littered with disfigured plush toys.
"People with my disorder, people who are high up on the autism spectrum often have attachments, emotional attachments to objects. I had told them that I was attached to things like that and they went out of their way to find a way to destroy things like that and have me see it," Bistreich said. "The message is that I was not respected because I was not like them."

Michael has filed a lawsuit against Gentile and the city $10M dollars.

"He was embarrassed by Michael's mannerisms in meetings and wanted to keep him on the job to do the work, but have him in a less visible role," said Brian Heller, Bistreich's attorney

Eyewitness News went to the councilman's Brooklyn home Wednesday night and was turned-away.

Gentile saying, in a statement, "I take this matter very seriously and will review the complaint with legal counsel."

The city Law Department said the complaint is under review.

i think that law suit might be a bit to much expected, but the person bullying him was awful, cutting teddies up when he knows he has an attachment to them? disgusting behavior.
