Looking for new and inexpensive hobbies to get me out of the house.

I live in an area with extremely limited public transpiration and no drivers license.

I am looking to add more diversity to my daily life than cooking and television/gaming.

Any suggestions are welcome here. I have started shopping for a bicycle, though, now that I have my tax refund.

Birdwatching, geocaching, good old fashioned hiking/walking. It is amazing how much a simple walk can and does help and it is totally free.

Bicycle is wonderful and if you like classic types, I am sure @Gerontius can give many pointers on that subject.

Mmmh. Any green spaces near you? Suitable for walking? Skipping ropes are fun, not just for kids, and great for fitness and coordination and think of the positive role model you could be by doing things like that in a world that's so constrained by unnecessary ideas and herd thinking. Kids would love it too.

Rollerblading? Not expensive and you could hire too if you don't want to do it regularly. It's like flight, but on the ground.

Any hobby/interest groups in your area to check out? Anthropologically, of course, and with write-ups for the rest of us. ;) I tried some out-there things like Scottish Highland dancing in our little town, and that was actually a really lovely group of all ages you could let your hair down with. Very invigorating and amusing exercise too. One of the moves was called "The Teapot" bwahahahaha.

We have a hiking group that car pools to lovely areas and if you have no car, you just chip in for petrol.

On the not so fun side was my attendance at a local progress association meeting, which was filled with little wannabe dictators and so dull I wanted to pull my nose hairs out with tweezers.

It's good to have a look around...

Any community development or project you could join or volunteer at? I volunteer at a community farm, plus we got an allotment. I don't drive either. Could you start something? Like, a film night or a film discussions group? Maybe there's a public space you can use?

You can try one of those Pokemon Go like games that forces you out of home to collect things using GPS maps. There are many kind of those.

You can get extra money walking dogs or doing some outdoors activity.

You can go out to take pictures of nature of or your city, dont know why I relate cinema with pictures.

If there is a lake or river nearby, you could learn fishing and getting a fishing licence. Fishing its a very calm activity.

If your city doesnt have lot of luminic contamination, you can go out at nigth, to a calm place and stare stars. There are some nice apps to scan the sky that will tell you their names. Night walks can be really relaxing. No ligths, no sounds, not so many people. I miss that from my town, Mexico City is dangerous.

Take up a musical instrument. Offer your services as a pet sitter!

Great you sound so positive these days.
