Login from a new IP Address

I've been getting an email from AC informing me that someone is logging into my account from a different IP Address. It happens immediately after I login, so it isn't someone else. I've already been shown two different IP Addresses. Is this just a bug?

It could be for various reasons i-wanna-blue . At times ISP's fluctuate with connections to your home address, they move from one connection to the other. Modems almost roam as do wifi depending on who is providing them with bandwidth. If you disconnect your modum and then reconnect it will show a different IP address initially.

I often have different connections shown on my computer. Do you have another computer or phone using your connection? If your using a wifi connection is it secure? Did you encrypt the network password on your wifi or modum network? Sometimes people use the factory encryption without changing it.

Sounds like a question for our admin Brent. I've used VPN services and wandered around logging in and I've never gotten such a notice.

I have a mobile device as well as a computer on my connection. I've never had this message before though. As far as I know my network is secure. I suppose I better contact my ISP to check out if something is wrong. I did trace the address and it came to someone in my country who uses the same ISP. I hope it's just a mix up, and nothing more.

I had to google 'phishing' and it has me worried.

No other forum nor my email account has given me this message. If this is a new feature could it just be some issue with it? I'm still gonna contact my ISP though, and check it out, so I won't disable that feature just yet.

Just checked a connecting email account for this forum and I also received the same message:

"Mia,
We noticed a recent login to your account from a new IP address. If this was not you, we recommend that you immediately change your password.
Details:
IP Address: XXX XX XXX XXX

  • Date: 09/01/2016 12:06 AM UTC
  • User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; rv:47.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/47.0
Thanks.
AspiesCentral.com"

The above listed is the email and I've checked the listed ISP, it's mine. So it seems to be a glitch that you should ignore, as its not an issue.

Phew, that's a relief. I was thinking it was a glitch. I know I said that the IP was traced to someone else in my country but that turned out to be a name associated with my ISP, which I confirmed later. Thanks for all the help everyone.

Protocol. 127.0.0.1 is the most commonly used address and is called the "loopback" address.

A loopback address is a type of IP address that is used to test the communication or transportation medium on a local network card and/or for testing network applications. Data packets sent on a loopback address are re-routed back to the orginating node without any alteration or modification.

So that's likely what it is, a loopback test.

Just did a bit more of a search on this, think that the problem is not a loopback. The emails generated to my email address are most likely a result of the fact that my IP uses a dynamic IP rather than a static one. Which causes the IP address to fluctuate many times in a day on the same server but with slightly different IP numbers that all belong to the same internet provider.

Note: Had contact with my Internet Provider, they advised me that my IP address will fluctuate as a 'dynamic' IP' but no more than four to five times per month.
