Also, if you need a AA battery and all you have are AAA, you can use the AAA and use tin foil to make up the gap. I noticed that it works best if you put the foil on the flat negative side of the battery.If you're ever short on batteries for a remote control of your television or anything, take some aluminum foil and make a batterysized roll and put that in where the 2nd battery goes. It closes the circuit and conducts electricity just as well. Battery life might decrease, but it could help you out for a while. Should work on flashlights as well, though it could decrease brightness a bit.
Similarly, it the little spring in the battery compartment of your remote control broke, you can put a small ball of aluminum foil in there so it makes contact with the battery and the remote to close the electrical circuit. No need to buy a new remote if said spring ever broke
