Knitting!

I have recently been wondering if my intense interest in all things fiber-related (but particularly knitting) result from AS, or if my so-called fiber obsession is simply a part of being a knitter.

So, does anyone else have any thoughts on this? Are there any other AS types who find fiber fascinating?

I'm extremely surface-oriented, fibers included. But I don't find knitting interesting by that reason, I take it at mathematical exercise, as I also like knots and all that.
What led me knitting at first was simply that all my woolen socks got torn on use during times, and I no more have any knitter left in my family, so I had to learn myself. I was afraid it'd be too feminine activity for me, but that was all vain. Even that I find myself being generally interested in all mechanics, I was surprised how interesting knitting was in that mind. There are so many techniques to master, how can sch things be done with one simple yarn! And I seldom do anything that much with my own hands, so it's really nice thing to do.

I prefer crochet. I make toys mostly because crochet isn't really a clothing craft. I need to get back into knitting because crochet isn't really a clothing craft lol. I love the feel of some wools. Not pure wool, that is very gritty and irritating on my skin. But the soft baby wools and acrylics are nice.
