Just saw this illusion

Mind's tricks to limit unnecessary processing by assuming that image you see now is most likely the image you saw previously (to the caveman, people didn't disappear and appear from nowhere, they just move).

Each eye sees a different image.

The "brain" tries to "average" them into a single image because eyes are only semi-independent and normally (in humans) both eyes look at the same thing.

It's amazing the way optical illusions test & reveal "normal" brain functions.

I simply noticed a pattern of sorts with the allegedly "distorted" face being somewhat larger than the one to the left or right of it. Just my brain working that way I suppose...

What am I supposed to see just see two faces next to each other. Noticed in past these illusions do not work with me.

If a guy in the first picture shown at the corner of your eye has big eyes / lips / nose / whatever, and a guy in the second picture has small eyes / lips / nose / whatever, you were supposed to see at the corner of your eye weird amalgam of both pictures, big eyes / lips / nose / whatever standing unnaturally out. Like some half-way morphed image. The amalgam picture turns to a real second picture if you start looking at the face directly.

Worked for me. It was a really disturbing effect. Made me feel a little bit uncomfortable. Reminded me of watching a room full of people, each moving randomly around (I prefer seeing all moving to a same direction in uniform manner).

Yes, a bit disturbing and scary. I saw scary in a YouTube comment

I missed the boat last time also, is my brain wired different is it being ambidextrous. Even that old lady. young lady .can see both easily switch back and forth.

Sorry just did not get it,With Ronald on this one . Abject pragmatism has its values as well.
lolzz( optical disillusions) Lolz ..And yes on the ambidexterous just btw, think just barely incidental to this illusion.
