Why do people say stay warm to someone who's leaving? I usually don't stay warm when I walk out into the cold. :O_o:
 
It's another way of saying "Take care of yourself!"---which, in cold weather, is largely centered around staying warm.
 
Interesting. Probably some people think it's a blessing. I'd rather stay cold, but that's just me.

I've never heard it used, and it's not like I'm half a world away from you; the closest I've heard is "keep warm", and that only in this TV closing theme:
