Islamic Quotes

Qu'ran 2:254 to 2:256

254 O you who have faith! Spend out of what We have provided you before there comes a day on which there will be no bargaining, neither friendship, nor intercession. And the faithless—they are the wrongdoers.

255 Allah—there is no god except Him—is the Living One, the All-sustainer. Neither drowsiness befalls Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that may intercede with Him except with His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they do not comprehend anything of His knowledge except what He wishes. His seat embraces the heavens and the earth and He is not wearied by their preservation, and He is the All-exalted, the All-supreme.

256 There is no compulsion in religion: rectitude has become distinct from error. So one who disavows fake deities and has faith in Allah has held fast to the firmest handle for which there is no breaking; and Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing.

I enjoyed these quotes. Thank you for your posts :)

3:108 to 3:116

108
These are the signs of Allah, which We recite to you in truth, and Allah does not desire any wrong for the creatures.

109 To Allah belongs whatever there is in the heavens and the earth, and to Allah all matters are returned.

110 You are the best nation [ever] brought forth for mankind: you bid what is right and forbid what is wrong, and have faith in Allah. And if the People of the Book had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them [some] are faithful, but most of them are transgressors.

111 They will never do you any harm, except for some hurt; and if they fight you, they will turn their backs [to flee], then they will not be helped.

112 Wherever they are found, abasement is stamped upon them, except for an asylum from Allah and an asylum from the people. They have earned the wrath of Allah, and poverty has been stamped upon them. That, because they would deny the signs of Allah and kill the prophets unjustly. That, because they would disobey and commit transgression.

113 Yet they are not all alike. Among the People of the Book is an upright nation; they recite Allah’s signs in the watches of the night and prostrate.

114 They have faith in Allah and the Last Day, and bid what is right and forbid what is wrong, and they are active in [performing] good deeds. Those are among the righteous.

115 Whatever good they do, they will not go unappreciated for it, and Allah knows well the Godwary.

116 As for the faithless, neither their wealth nor their children will avail them anything against Allah. They shall be the inmates of the Fire and remain in it [forever].

Graphics and Islam and Plato

Thank you, this was a fun video. I find the idea of images interesting, especially in the references he mentions, or in things like Exodus or Guy Debord's The Society of the Spectacle. Propaganda by Jacques Ellul was also very powerful, in this respect. Many people think pictures convey more than words, but I wonder if the image more easily appeases our current perspective, thus it is "true." Words take more work, may not feel as pleasurable, and then seem less truthful.

Arabic is primarily Poetic.

Japanese Zen Buddhism is accoording to teacher also Poetic. I have no experience in this regard but Tibetan Buddhism is Visual i heard.

Zen is the lastest forum of Buddhism, AFAIK. Zen teaches it is possible to achieve enlightenment only through Meditation.

You are right. It is very poetic and part of this is to help the student learn on their own. Buddhism is about finding refuge in yourself, while supporting others. So the poetry is part of learning to feel comfortable in yourself and see things as they are.

Zen is very focused on sitting meditation, but the idea is also to have that meditative perspective through all life. To practice for its own sake, because that is life.

I have not read the Qur'an in years, but would like to read it again at some point. I have an Oxford World's Classics translation.

We may follow different things, but I find many of your quotes interesting and relatable. You help make this site fun, so thank you for your contributions.

2:253 These are the apostles, some of whom We gave an advantage over others: of them are those to whom Allah spoke and some of them He raised in rank, and We gave Jesus, son of Mary, manifest proofs and strengthened him with the Holy Spirit. Had Allah wished, those who succeeded them would not have fought one another after the manifest proofs had come to them. But they differed. So there were among them those who had faith and there were among them those who were faithless, and had Allah wished, they would not have fought one another; but Allah does whatever He desires.
So if God don't speak to me - which he can - then i'm increasingly getting closer to Him and increase in rank as time pass. If he spoke to me then i'd enter into heaven, likely through a human/humans.

Because we have choise between The Originators pleasure, or Heavens pleasure (his Heaven).

Leave me alone 😎😁 with God 😎 .... what is Life? Worthless. I don't know.

Imam Jaffar al-sadiq (as) said:
The heart of one who comes to know God is filled with fear of Him, and once a person is afraid of God, his nafs (ego) will pay no attention to the world.

I am responding to your quotes based on my own beliefs. You feel I am impure or unclean. I disagree. I feel your doctrine is hateful if you insult non-believers in such a manner.

Maybe you are Christian if you want to "fit in".

In my mosque we have the floor marked for spaces impure people can go, simply because they are unclean Atheists, or unclean Muslims, or young Cristians Students. Grownup Christians and Muslim people are allowed on clean areas. Physically.

But if you want to be my or our friend, there are rules, of cleanliness?

Edit: through internet cleanliness is not problem. Edit2: maybe.

Running Google's translate function on any Arabic copy of the Quran will reveal all the suras against non-Muslims that the English-language Qurans provided by Muslims seem to lack.

In other words, copies of the Quran already in English will likely omit the parts Muslims do not want you to see until you are fully indoctrinated into their system. For example:

"When you meet the unbelievers, smite their necks, then when you have made wide slaughter among them, tie fast the bonds . . ." -- Sura 47:4

My mom stagnated at Hijab/Headscarf and Hair here in post by @Cutesie

My mom protested on that Hair symbolized Strength and Honor. She wore Hijab not to hide her Hair from Allah, as Allah knows and sees everything, but she wore Hijab OTOH to gard for/against humanity. Allah is a Guide.

It might be better to ask how our own thoughts and behavior are superior. Who here doesn't benefit from sweatshop labor and factory farming? We may not say "make war," but we bring much suffering into the world.
