Is this the Asperger's?

I'm 52 yrs and have always been different from others...especially socially. I just realized a few days ago that my "oddness" is actually mild Aspergers, when I researched Aspie online I most definitely fit the profile and to tell you the truth I was relieved!

Anyway, I really don't care for most people...I do gravitate towards a few but for the most part the more I'm around people the less I like them. I can take them in small doses but no more than that. There are a few people whom i do love and respect and my husband and 2 children are among them, which is a good thing. Lol. I have gotten to the point where I don't do social functions anymore, ie/ Christmas parties, staff dinners, baby showers etc. because I really detest them. I work in a medical facility and I find my favorite patients are children, the elderly and patients with special needs. The others I have to put up a nice "front" with and sometimes this is exhausting. Lucky I only work part time! I work with one other very easy going lady whom I like and get along with. A few years ago I worked with about 4 others and I found this hard...I just find being one on one with somebody so much easier than a group situation. If I don't like somebody I'm afraid it shows, I'm not good at pretending to like somebody.

Is anybody else like this? I used to wonder why I was like this, because nobody else I have come across seems so socially "cold" - I just can't help it though, it's how I feel.

Stop talking about me! LOL...Yes, I'm sure a number of us will chime in to tell you we're just as "guilty as charged". Welcome to AC. ;)
