Is there any new or new in the last 5 years movies or tv show that have actors with autism people characters with autism?

Well...this is dated four years ago. At least there are a few out there, though I didn't recognize any of them. Though I'm quite aware of a number of autistic actors. Bella Ramsey being the most recent one. She plays the lead character of the tv series "The Last Of Us". Though her character is NT.

It would be great if the industry would cast someone like Bella Ramsey as an autistic character. Frankly she has the chops to do it and in a big way. I suspect we're going to see her a lot more in the coming years, though it's worth mentioning she's been acting since the age of four !

It does bring up an interesting industry question though. Whether or not major names of actors on the spectrum have been coached by their agents not to take such a role, given the possible stereotyping Hollywood is known for.

My personal favorite over the last 5 years is Extraordinary Attorney Woo. If you are not familiar with it, it is a Korean series in which the title character is a woman with very high functioning abilities in certain areas, but also with deficits in socializing and dealing with the everyday, who has a deep fascination with blue whales. I was disarmed from the first episode and truly wish they had done a second series. I still hold out hope, but there is no indication that the production company is planning on another season.

The woman who plays Woo Young-Woo is NT but I think she gives an entirely believable performance (at least I connected with it).

It is currently streaming on Netflix with English available, dubbed or subtitles.
