Is it possible to be both sad and happy?

Well, I have sadness and loneliness symptoms right now but I'm still happy. I asked my last therapist and family members how happiness felt like and they said it's a good moment or a pleasurable experience and then happiness is gone.

But I actually feel happy even during periods when I manifest symptoms of sadness and loneliness or go through bad experiences. It's constant and I could say I'm happy 24/7. But sometimes I still have symptoms of sadness and loneliness while happy.

The people I asked told me that they either feel sad or happy, not both together.

Is it possible to be both sad and happy simulteneously?

I think so. I think it often gets overlooked that we can actually display multiple emotions at one given time. Ever been on a rollercoaster? We are not binary machines, we're more complex than that.
