Must be a real shortage of qualified specialists.in my area of expertise. getting message on my linkin and message on cell phone trying to fill position.
unfortunately, I'm retired, financially not in need, enjoying life. last time something similar happened was 25 years ago, when their was a shortage of quality engineers.
I just passed the phone to coworkers, many found employment, many making more than I was. One final job change, with pension, interesting process challenges and the 21-year run to retirement. Now not looking to enrich others not at a 40-hour week plus overtime. the position I retired from was 32-hour week no required overtime or shift work.
Plus had stroke 10 days prior to official retirement date.

You are wise to pass it up. If you are relaxed and content, you likely can't do better then that.

I did my linkin plainly says retired, we have very serious skilled trade labour shortage and not too many have my skill set. what bothers me is I do not give out my phone number and they sent the message to my phone. I have a one-of-a-kind skill. Would take years to find anyone else. thats why 25 years ago I found others to take the phone I was getting continuous phone calls from headhunters. My buddies really appreciated my getting them to upgrade thier education in quality engineering most notably the recent immigrants. Must have gotten 10 or more positions double or triple what they were making. Now it is the company personally contacting me. Real estate now comes to my door bothering us to sell our house, The pressure is on the rent a room to students, We own properties. is their going to be pressure to have homes built on it. when it rains it pours.

I've been retired from law practice for a number of years but still get emails, phone calls, letters and text messages from headhunters, people looking for an attorney, and people offering their expertise as expert witnesses. Yet, my profile with the state bar association clearly shows my status as retired.

Such is life . . .

I own a cell phone have never made a phone call on it use it for other features. do not answer it unless it is family
do not give out my number. Either way I deleted message. I gave a few members here advice on gaining employment years ago not sure if they took it or whether it worked.

I have no idea how people get my cell phone number either, but I periodically scroll through the received calls and block numbers that I know are spam or telemarketers. I never answer those calls because the computer programs they employ to randomly generate phone numbers increases the number of calls to your phone if you answer it. If you answer, then they know it is a viable number and they will continue to call.

I'm surprised 25 years later there is still such a high demand for quality engineers matched with a specialty.
quality engineering only requires a certificate that can be obtained in months if you combine it with a technical
qualification previously obtained. The message was directly from the company seeking me personally. If they had phoned, I would not have answered.

When I started my career years ago first job a supervisor told Ron look around what is one thing in common with virtually all products, and that was they need to be painted. The position was as a lab technician painting aluminum siding, I devoted my career.to this, Every position from then on was related to these appliances, vehicles various substrates, including plastic. Different application methods. now my generation is retiring, and specific skills no longer exist. I guess some companies are starting to panic. found out yesterday number one job to fill here among immigrants for fast tracking is truck drivers.

I retired in 2016. Since then I get solicitations from LinkedIn and some businesses direct wanting me to apply for employment. I just delete the emails. Never reply. I never have my phone on, so they can't call me even if they somehow figured how to get my number.
