I want to be less dramatic.

Drama is a hell of a drug.

So is outrage.

So is depression.

So is all things negative.

I vow to curb my overly dramatic impulses and be more of a stable human being.

I am working on this in therapy.

It seems that you are on a Pathway that takes you where you want to be going, Metalhead.

Sounds like a good thing to be working on in therapy. “Being dramatic” seems like an outward display of black-and-white thinking. Something so many of us are susceptible to and have had to work on.

Stable is a comfortable place to reside.

What comes to my mind when thinking about "being dramatic" is being histrionic. Histrionic behaviors and dramatic behaviors are closely related and often used interchangeably, particularly when describing a personality. The word "histrionic" itself means "dramatic" or "theatrical" according to Merriam-Webster. Histrionic personality disorder (HPD) is characterized by excessive emotionality and attention-seeking behavior, often described as dramatic.

Drama CAN be intoxicating--then there is the inevitable: dealing with wreckage.
I pretty much always wanted to avoid or escape from drama and dramatic, theatrical, histrionic people, mostly family members. I remember an uncle said that some of our relatives were dramatic because they couldn't afford to go to the movies or other entertainment venues. So, they had to create their own "movies" in real life. I thought his comment was both true and also comical. The relatives to whom he referred were very histrionic!
