I have good personal chats...

I have good personal chats with members of staff at the drop-in centre I attend for aspergers, maybe particularly as my parents sadly passed away I have no brothers to sisters and I lost contact with my other family members and sometimes people share personal things with close family members. I don't share personal information with friends but general information.

I pretend I get on with everyone but I don't appreciate those who stare at me at the drop-in or outside in the general public. (I think staring is very different from looking). I don't choose to socialise with anyone who tries to be rude to me for example staring, for the sake of the drop-in I will say hi but that's it.

Sometimes fellow service users move to close proximity to me to try and read my personal paperwork or what I'm typing online. I am happy to receive help support and advice from the staff and have received very valuable and essential help sometimes for around 10 years.

I overheard (sometimes you can't help overhearing) that someone tried to access their phone and I have had that happen so now on I carry with me my bag, paperwork and phone and if anyone asks why I will say why.

I'm glad you're having a mostly positive experience with the drop in center. I always have my phone. If it's someone that we're not supposed to have the phone, I'll put it on silent and keep it in my purse, but I do keep it on me. But not accessing it.
It's amazing to think of how things have changed with phones over time. I remember when a home phone was a luxury that not everyone could afford. There were times I didn't have a home phone. Once in a while you might meet someone that had two phones in the house (one line, but 2 phones). So they could have a phone downstairs and one upstairs. But wherever the phone was (connected to the wall) you were stuck in that spot talking. Now, each individual person has their own phones that they carry around with them and it's considered a necessity.

we didnt have a phone for years and not every other house in the street had a phone, I was surprised when someone needed to use ours, I thought we were the poor family thena couple of years ago saw a neighbour asking to charge or loan a charger ,how times change, we would go to the phone box (this is what i think of below) which was not! in the next street .

Yes, I've used many pay phones over the years. Kept rolls of quarters handy. :)

I’m glad you’re having a positive experience with the staff. I usually got on better with staff and teachers than with my own peers.

Just a quick note on staring: some people don’t do it intentionally. I’m one of those people. I often stare off into nowhere when I’m in deep thought, but sometimes people sitting across from me get incredibly uncomfortable because they think I’m staring at them. I’m not looking at them, but I am staring in their direction, so I understand the confusion. I’m not saying everyone staring at you is doing this, but it could be possible for some of them.
Also, sometimes my gaze lingers on people because I am admiring the way they look or they’ve done their hair. Or sometimes I’m trying to figure out why their face seems familiar to me. Some people are just pleasant to look at. However, if I feel like I’m making someone uncomfortable, I look somewhere else.

^ pretty much the same for me though I sometimes start staring at people because they "look interesting" and I feel compelled to study their behavior.
