Howdy :)

Lets see, I'm a 49 year old gay male who recently discovered I've been an Aspie my whole life. All the signs were there, I just didn't know anything about autism. As a youngster I rocked, flapped hands, was selectively mute for a few years. I remember my mother always telling people I didn't talk because I was shy.

I'm on disability for a combo of depression/anxiety/CIDP. I can already see the what the heck is CIDP on your faces :) It stands for Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy. Basically its the same as MS, except it starts in the hands and feet instead of the brain.

Not sure what else to say, I'm sure it will eventually come to me :)

Keep reading here, and you'll likely find a great deal of things in common with us. Welcome to AC!

Howdy! I found out when I was 50, so we are in the same boat. I also have mutism but get it when someone's bothering me. Isn't that weird? It can last from 15 minutes to days. When I was young, Ialso spinned & flapped but when I flapped, my mom made me sit on my hands. Eventually I stopped. :-) I also have Maladaptive Daydreaming as my biggest stim.

So happy to meet you! This forum has good peeps & everyone is nice!

Welcome napper. Sorry to hear about the CIDP. We're nice people here except for when I turn into a werewolf and start howling at the moon but that only happens like once a month so try not to let it worry you :)

Welcome! Love your avatar. My advanced kitty lip-reading skills suggest the word is "Aaaerrrr." Possibly a statement regarding treats?

I'm very sorry to hear about the CIDP but we all keep each other company through a variety of ups and downs. I look forward to "seeing" you around the forum.
