I'm a mom to a 10yr old aspie, Nicholas. I joined this forum to meet other parents with Asperger kids and to learn from all others with Asperger. Thanks for having me!:H

Hey there, and welcome to Aspies Central, there are actually other parents that I have seen on this forum so this is definitely interesting that you joined. :)
Hopefully you find the answers your looking for and happy posting. :D

Hello there.

When was your son diagnosed? Your son is lucky to have been diagnosed at a young age.

Welcome to the forums! I agree with the person above in that it's better to be diagnosed at an early age as opposed to late in life. We have a few other parents on the forums too but most of us are actually on the spectrum.

Thanks for the warm welcome! :)
I knew Nicholas was on the spectrum since he was 2yrs old. We didn't get a definite diagnosis until he was 7. It's been quite a bumpy ride with all the ignorance out there.
As for the Pokemon, Nicholas is currently very addicted, that's why the name. Looking forward to getting to know everyone and learn. :D

That was definitely the same with me my parents knew something wasn't right with me before I was even even two because they noticed that I haven't started talking at the normal age where I'm suppose to start talking and I was only able to start at the age of 3 and a half years old and I was officially diagnosed around that age.

Nicholas didn't talk until almost 4. One day he sat on the floor with his dr.suess book (he used to study them constantly) and out of nowhere he started reading out loud "The Cat In The Hat".
I will never forget this feeling when I first heard him speak, and not to mention reading a book after 4 years of NOTHING! He is brilliant. I wish I had half of his amazing memory!

Hi, Pokemon.

Have you ever seen this animated short based on an interview that a 12-year-old aspie did with his mother for the StoryCorps project? It might be something you can relate to:
