How far to push myself...

Our big winter festival kicks off tonight, right now it's happening (for 1.5 more hours)

Roads are a little greasy as we've had lots of snow, I do know there should be lots of true winter mood tonight, possibly snowfall

I also worked all day, with a headache, still have that same headache now that it's evening... I could probably go if I really wanted to... The event runs for two more weeks and weekends, but there is no guarantee (on the photography front) of a similar evening with that great winter (I mean snow) mood

I'm kind of kicking myself, but the headache I have is also reasonably nasty, I know I often push myself too hard thinking that nothing will ever repeat itself, and ultimately each day is different... And maybe sometimes I just need the rest if I'm not feeling 100%, despite what I feel like I'm missing out on as well... I go back and forth...

And I worked a construction job today in some heavy snow, just simply feeling tired and slightly drained on this particular evening, at least I can sleep in tomorrow but it will be a cold weekend...

Pushing too hard is a recipe for disaster most of the time, imho. You've got to nurture yourself sometimes, even if the FOMO is getting you down. It's a tough call, but I think your body knows best on this one

It is hard to do great work when you are not feeling sharp, and it probably won't be fun to push. Unless you get some bi-polar kicking in, or some such.

@Slime_Punk But what if someone else got a killer photo I didn't get, I know it's wrong to even suggest that :p

@Shevek To the best of my knowledge I'm not bi-polar, I might not have been my sharpest tonight

I wanted to get out in the snow and take pics last night, but I didn't want to chance a wreck as the entire town was a skating rink. Being mentally drained didn't help. It's making me a bit crazy as I finally pulled the trigger on a lens I wanted and it feels wrong to not be using it immediately.

Why couldn't you test it with a walk? I paid for many prints of the neighbour's picket fence to test a lens. I'm glad you didn't do the risky driving. I used to enjoy the sport, but now I think about the possible expense more.
