How did you learn to converse with people without a script

Hello loves,

Is there a method you used to become better socially? I feel like a script would help somewhat. I would feel so strange doing that though. I imagine it could be an adequate ice breaker though. Get you past the awkward introduction with people. Did any of you have a method you used? Cheers.

I didn't, I still use scripts and always will.

With practice, though, I havedeveloped a huge repertoire of them and become more flexible with using them -- able to change a word or phrase here or there, to swap out whole sentences/statements......to cut and paste things, so to speak......when it goes well it is really no different than unscripted speech as far as the conversation goes, it's just that the words come together differently in my brain than the way they come together for most people.

I don't care enough to try, anymore, I didn't find any really good strategies for me, and relied on the kindness of others which was often helpful, mostly now I just avoid social situations unless it's a semi compulsory work event, then I flounder or sit in a quiet spot. I am particularly poor at this area though. And sort of don't mind anymore as I get older. I'm ok in a semi structured environment usually tho it's hard to know when to speak, I talk over people or keep quiet.

For me, it was jokes & FYIs that were relevant to the situation or existing conversation.

Sometimes, if a person introduced themselves, I would tell them what their name meant.

I don't need a script, I just act "normal" for me (define "normal", contrary to popular belief I AM "normal"), and if people don't like or approve of that, that's their problem.

thanks for the tips mang! I won't sweat it, I'll just be like most people and have a repertoire. That should work.

Jokes are dynamite when conversing with people. I've always been somebody that is never serious. I always relished when people would find me funny.

I like what you said, "I don't care enough to try anymore." I applaud people who just do what makes sense for them.:p I love this. I have had to be molded over time to respond to people at semi-appropriate times. My brain had to be re-worked by trial and error to the point where it is somewhat instinctual. Like an automatic response. I liked myself before that change took place, of course. I was a much more useful and brilliant person before. Make sure you TAKE VITAMIN D3 every day and PRACTICE MINDFULNESS MEDITATION.
