Hobbies? / Fun?

Pondering

Well-Known Member
What is 'fun'? "'F' is for friends who do stuff together, 'U' is for you and me, 'N' is for anywhere at any time at all, down here in the deep blue sea" - Spongebob Squarepants. In all seriousness - or none - what do you do for fun? What do you really enjoy doing? Do you get bored easily?

F is for fire that burns down the whole town, U is for uranium bombs, N is for no survivors!
:P
Anyway, for fun I like to listen to music, screencap, make/edit videos, read, surf the web, watch anime/Disney movies/Disney shows/media in general, and occassionally work on craft projects.

Fun for me seldom includes participating with other people face to face. I do like email. I love to read and my interaction with my pets is the biggest pleasure in my life, except for an occasional great interaction with one of my kids. (No grandchildren, and that is OK with me because I think the world is a painful place to be and don't want to wish it on anyone.) I love to travel and enjoy natural scenery. I really appreciate those occasional times when I realize I feel comfortable with myself--these times are not terribly frequent. Watching my dog thoroughly enjoy herself on a walk when she spends endless minutes sniffing everything she encounters makes me happy because I love her and want her to have her kind of fun. Having my cats purr endlessly just because they are with me is great. I love really good performances of classical music. Occasionally, I find a TV program that that is worthwhile watching. However, far too often, I feel miserable, wish I had never been born, wonder how the Hell a few people were able to seriously abuse me emotionally, wish I could die, and just want life to be over because it has hurt me so badly so many times and for so many years. I am being perfectly honest and I would like to hear from others who will tell us how they REALLY feel from day to day.

I like trying to make myself seem useful!
Just kidding. But I really like to feel productive at an easy pace. This may consist of drawing a project for someone, researching a topic and writing a blog about it, or looking into subjects that are relevant to my academic pursuits. Sometimes I do crafts or cooking also, which I enjoy. And reading in general is a favorite of mine.
When it comes to going out, I really like coffee shops for meeting up with people and going to scenic areas. :)

I am a very active person. We are a rarity on the spectrum, but I am one of the extroverted auties who loves to go out and mingle with the people. I have many motorized adult toys that provide hours of fun. I build, restore and ride bicycles. I belong to an American Modelers Association flying club. My neighborhood is filled with supportive people and my closest neighbors have all become good friends.I get invited to many homes for meals and often accept them. A friend from my childhood lives just about 200 yards away from me. Music makes my world go around and it plays 24 hours a day in several places.A lot of my time is taken up by hobbies and interests. When does fun begin for me you ask? When my eyes open in the morning :D

Good thread. Riding my bicycle, hiking, walking or jogging a trail, sometimes cooking, reading new (or new for me) information on the internet, word scramble puzzles although that is sort of a stim?, movies, sometimes music and long, peaceful road trips to beautiful places. I only occasionally get bored, if I feel that way it's probably because I'm tired.

Often:
  • Tabletop gaming: mostly Euro Games and RPGs
  • Binge watching TV shows
  • Research!
  • Reading comics and novels
  • Tea with friends
Occasionally:
  • Visit museums
  • Go dancing (I know, not very aspie of me)
  • Go to a movie, play, or concert
Making music used to be a source of fun for me, but now I feel I have stagnated. I want to get back into it, but need to be able to do so without having an anxiety attack. Maybe I just expect too much of myself.

I think I might like to get into weird medievaly hobbies like joining a historical reenactment group, or learning to sword fight. I've dabbled in these areas and found it a lot of fun. Maybe even joining and early music ensemble.

I used to love bike riding. It's one of the few forms of exercise I enjoy. Once I get my bike in for repairs I can resume this pastime.

As for me, I like to listen to 70s/80s music (particularly The Band, Pat Benatar, Laura Branigan, Leonard Cohen, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Gondwanaland, Billy Joel, Rainbow, Redgum, The Rolling Stones, Santana, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits and Frank Zappa), watch movies from the same eras, ride my bike, play guitar, swim, research my family tree (found ancestors from England, Scotland and New Zealand), keep my three dogs (Ruby, Toffee and Toby) and bird (Leunig) company and collect vinyl records.

Most anything playful and physical, uncomplicated. Bike riding, skiing, trail running, playing baseball, tennis, swimming, boating (non-motorized), cooking, EATING! Reading interesting articles, joking around, watching good comedies. I like seeing things, so wandering around just about anywhere, especially woods, mountains, cities, deserts, beaches, neighborhoods, a good long drive can be fun, even through North Dakota. If the company is right, I even like doing these things with others!

Fun? F is for the Frets on my guitar, U is for the Universal language of music, N is for the notes I play.

I enjoy gaming, jamming, singing, listening to music, writing music and, chillin' with other musicians, online mostly since they don't get a chance to come see me often and, international calls get costly.

For me I like to do the following things for fun:

I am also a rarity amongst some Aspies. I am a type of aspie who doesn't mind socialising or has trouble making friends, although I don't like when things 'get too busy'.
  • Do independent travel in the local and not too distant community by going on buses, trains, walking and taxis.
  • Go to the pub to have a soft drink, go to parties, discos and special events.
  • Watch television, study for a later career, do exersises and improve my knowledge and expieriences.
I hope this helps everyone.

I play computer games mainly. Either that or reading about mental conditions like autism or reading up on feudal times like the viking invasions of Britain and the Anglo-Saxons. When I'm not doing that I spend time listening to various pieces of music and/or on the internet watching tech videos.

I'm not very good at this one. These days fun for me consists of teaching myself coding(I'm two months in and struggling today to understand the concept and uses of classes/methods), researching random news stuff and watching John Oliver videos(he is EPIC), playing piano, listening to music. I've sort of lost the concept of fun at the moment because for some of the last year I got pretty depressed. Shoulda woulda coulda feels like my slogan except I am actually doing stuff and enjoying it(unless I'm stuck like right now). I'm going to poke around on here and see if there are any teach themselves programmers on here :D

I love to play with my cats and dogs. I love to go swimming and very good at it, just like a fish. There's no better feeling to me than to be in water. I like playing in the rain. I enjoy dancercise, watching concerts on YouTube, crossword puzzles learning new things. I love a wide variety of music. I can go from listening to the Foo Fighters and Metallica to listening to Contemporary Christian and George Strait. I also like talking to you guys!

I like to hack. Its an academic challenge but I don't do anything malicious. Its all about the fun, the ability to think better than the other party. Working out what they have set up and being able to circumnavigate them.

Oh and I like ham radio. :D

This may seem strange, but I like to work. I work alone doing what I love to do. Why else would I still be working at 70? All the things that I used to do for fun are simply to dangerous at my age. But I have always liked what I do for a living, so I spend 15 to 20 hours a week working. Every project is different, interesting and challenging. I love it, plus the extra money doesn't hurt. The truth is, it is probably what is keeping me alive.

Most of my free time involves doing things with my daughter. We go fishing or to the water park or wrestle in the living room floor. I love my little girl.

I also love to take my dog for rides and walk him by the lake.

I also spend time reading the bible every night and go to a small country church on Sundays.

I'm doing a master's in cryptography from the maths end but getting into the computing end as well, would like to know how you learnt it. Partly in terms of resources. Awesome interest/obsession anyway!

Well there is a lot on Youtube & SecurityTube. The Kali Linux forums are helpful.

Learn Linux if you don't already know it. I don't mean the GUI. Learn how to admin stuff using the CLI.

Understand about the daemon processes that serve stuff e.g WWW. Learn about the OSI 7 layer stack.

Get into TCP and IP. Learn Python and start write simple little tools. The Scapy library is a great boon.

Learn about how Wifi actually works and why WEP is a disacter waiting to happen. Security Tube is a fantastic source of info.

The site is owned by Vivek Ramachandran, he worked for Cisco and in the technical development of the wifi systems.

Understand how WPA and WPA-2 work and how you can try and subvert it.

Start playing with the old favourites like the LAND attack and the Teardrop attack from the Win 95/98 days and how they worked.

Google is your friend, look up Google dorking http://www.hackersforcharity.org/ghdb/

Read up on SQL and how to write queries in SQL to perform SQL injection.

Basically to defeat something you have to understand something.

Knowledge is Power.
