Hi,

faraway look

A few people suggested that I should be checked for Aspergers including my manager. Others just right me off as odd, introverted, different. Well Ive' pondered on being tested but want a DR that knows a lot about it. I found this site and thought I would give it a try. I usually hang by myself as too much around me makes me feel frazzled. Well, there ya have it.

welcome.webp

You could start by trying an online test such as the Aspie Quiz, it's not an official diagnosis, but it's a good personal guideline. Try to answer the questions as honestly as possible. Different aspies have varying levels of different traits and a few traits may barely show at all. All this is taken into account so even if you answer some questions in a way you'd expect a non aspie to answer, the result could still conclude that you are likely an aspie.

Finally I will state that if you do get diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum it's not necessarily a bad thing, in fact most people with higher functioning autism or Asperger syndrome have above average intelligence and are often very skilled at a special interest. Also an official diagnosis can sometimes make people realise why some things were difficult during their lives and it can help them address any current issues / unwanted traits then if necessary they can get the right support. Some people might be happy as they are and don't actually need to change anything after diagnosis, that's absolutely fine too. I wish you the best of luck and welcome to this friendly community.
