Hi everyone, I’m awaiting a diagnosis so atm I’m self diagnosed high functioning Autistic woman. I’ve been questioning myself for about 17 years but only just managed to get a referral last year and still waiting.

So I’m a 50 year old Mum and grandmother struggling to be understood and learning to say no to people for my own benefit is really hard, the push back and pressure I’ve had from family members and lack of understanding is causing me to have a major shutdown.

So I’m just here for some support and chit chat

Lots of love to all
Jen x

Welcome, many of us here were diagnosed late in life, me at 54 which was a relief and revelation, "so that's why I'm different!". This group is great to find others like myself, hope you find it useful too.

Hello and welcome @Jenx. Hope you enjoy the forum and find what you are looking for here. Just let us know if you have any questions about how things work.

Welcome Jenx. I didn't figure out I was high functioning autism until I read some professional articles about the characteristics of high functioning autistic professional women. It was like a light bulb came on. It was good to have some explanation for all the things that have been so difficult in my life.

I also really appreciated finding the forum where, while we are all very different, there were people just like me.
