Halloween Costumes as Children

What types of Halloween costumes did you wear as a child? Was their a specific theme that you wore every year or most years?
I never once dressed as a princess or anything else girlie. I was almost always a witch, a vampire, or the villain from a movie, such as Maleficent and Cat Woman from Batman Returns.

very young....through age 6:
Cat (because I loved cats):hearteyecat:

7 & 8 yrs old:
Gypsy (because of the wild aspect and all the jewelry) More than once.

9 years old:
Ghost (so that I could trick the other kids in class into thinking I was a boy. I had a new pair of shoes I hadn't worn to school yet. That was all they could see of me. The shoes. And I made sure to feign going to "my" [John's actually] desk, but then "realizing" that we were all to take different seats on the party day.

10 years old:
Miss America 1929 (my aunt gave me one of her fancy dresses that looked like that era. Smooth pink/fuschia under-sheath with a net overdress, dropped waist, lots of ruffles from the waist down. Banner saying "Miss America 1929" Guess who?---was a feature of the school party. Because I was wearing a mask and not speaking, I was mistaken for Betty, the pretty girl in class. (Surprise. It was me.):cherryblossom:

The year my grandmother died on Hallowe'en,
I was going to take a few kids out Trick or Treating that night.
We were all going as clowns. I decided to make up my face so I
wouldn't have to work at having an acceptable expression.
