H. G. Wells novels that you think should get a new TV/Movie Adaptation...

While most of us are familiar with some adaptations of H. G. Wells' works - be one of the many adaptations of War of the Worlds (with both Fox/Studio Canal and the BBC releasing new versions at some point to add to that story's list of adaptations), The Time Machine, The Invisible Man, The First Men in the Moon, etc. There's still a large bibliography of H. G. Wells' stories that could potentially be adapted (or receive a new adaptation) for the big or small screen.

Poster from the upcoming BBC adaptation of "The War of the Worlds".

So, is there any that you think could/should be adapted/receive a new adaptation?
Here's my choices:

A Wonderful Visit (1895): The Wonderful Visit - Wikipedia

The Island of Doctor Moreau (1986): The Island of Doctor Moreau - Wikipedia

The Sleeper Awakes: The Sleeper Awakes - Wikipedia

The Food of the Gods and How It Came to Earth (1904): The Food of the Gods and How It Came to Earth - Wikipedia

The War in the Air: The War in the Air - Wikipedia

The Sleeper Awakes. A new, modern adaptation of The invisible Man might be interesting, too. H.G Wells had some very interesting ideas that were very much ahaead of his time/prophetic, some of which would be controversial today, as they no doubt were then.

Agreed on The Sleeper Awakes and you're right, a new adaptation of The Invisible Man might be interesting to watch. Funnily enough, a new movie is scheduled for release in 2020, to add to the long list of Invisible Man adaptations.

True that some of what Wells wrote would be controversial even today, but controversy helps bring about discussions and if the access media/mainstream critics started hating on a new adaptation of a H. G. Wells story, it's basically a magnet for many other people who have the mindset of "the mainstream critics hate it? it might be worth a watch then!"

How about a decent version of any of them? Where they don't try to "improve" the story or make "cinematic art," or actors who think they are the movie.

I can agree with that - although personally I think the Jeff Wayne musical version of The War of the Worlds is the best adaptation of that story.

The Invisible Man is such a funny novel. Why is it that people always want books made into movies?
