Granny was a Punk Rocker and Every Day was Halloween - Photo Thread

Yeshuasdaughter

You know, that one lady we met that one time.

Were you a punk rocker, head banger, goth, deathrocker, hippie, deadhead, steampunk, biker, oogle, gutterpunk, gangster, etc?

Or maybe you just happened to wear a lot of black and didn't care about stupid labels.

Post a old photo of your young, edgelord self from back in the day, from when you used to proclaim that "Everyday is Halloween".

On a Boy Scout campout. I was pretty radical. That was a smile, BTW.

Same radical me as an Air Force ROTC cadet.

This is my idea of a sarcastic post.

As a teen/twenties I was into rock, wore jeans and leather, apart from the tie-dye era in the 70s, long hair, and rode large motorcycles. Punk didn’t really hit the scene until a little later - I built the sound gear/amps for a punk band in the early 80’s. Motörhead fan back then. Hippie? In my teens I also hung out with artists, very left wing. Chameleon? Just masking?

I was never part of a group... always an outlier. I went to a high school of 800 kids, and didn't know a single one I shared musical taste with. Ozzy/Black Sabbath, Slayer, Megadeath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, later very heavily into The Cure, Radiohead, The Smiths, Wire, XTC. My parents were extremely against all that, so anything I did had to be really subtle. Grainy scanned photo incoming... wish I knew how to do spoilers on here.

I wish I had photos, but I don't. If you want to know though, I used to wear all black sometime around my early 20s - black hoodie, black baseball cap, black shirt, black or dark shoes and black Dickies slacks, sometimes with long hair. I probably would have fit into the "gangster" and maybe "emo" personality types. Having lived an inner city life, I think the "gangster" type would have fit the most, but no, I have not committed any major crimes nor am I currently a gang member.

These days, now that I've grown older, I dress with a little more color, blue jeans and gray or neutral colored shirts, with usually cheap footwear. No more all black, but I think that may have been something of a reflection of my moods at the time instead of any actual fashion trend going on.

My high school teacher asked me if l dyed my hair black. l didn't, it was very dark. Then he asked me if l had fake eyelashes. Too strange. But l wasn't punk-out, just a shy high school girl.

I have this vision that one day when I am 90 and in an assisted living facility, they will have sing alongs according to the music people listened to in the 80s: "Ok everyone, here's an oldie but goodie. Open your songbooks to page 15. AC/DC: For Those About to Rock, We Salute You!"
