Favorite Comedy Movies?

I'm looking for some download ideas,
so what are your favorite comedy movies (or some that you may recommend)?
^_^

I think it's a "difficult" question, because there's different kinds of comedy... any movies you like within the comedy genre? Might be easier to go from there.

At least, for the 'what do you recommend" part.

One of my favorites is a rather new one. I thought "Get him to the greek" was awesome. And the Monty Python movies... I saw you downloaded Office space... that one goes among my favorites. But there's more Mike Judge movies that are cool. Idiocracy is kinda funny-ish. I recently watched "don't mess with the zohan"... it was funny-ish, but I'm not really into Adam Sandler. There's some more that'll come to mind later on I hope.

But yeah.. "comedy". It's a odd genre I think... I mean, action clearly states something, comedy can be totally not funny.

Duck Soup is pretty much my all-time favorite comedy, and I'm not even that big of a Marx Brothers person. Definitely see that one if you haven't (it's pretty short, only about 70 minutes).

Horse Feathers is probably my second favorite Marx Brothers movie; not on the same level but still pretty funny. Don't bother with their first movie, The Cocoanuts, unless you're a really big Marx Brothers fan; I think I fast-forwarded through about half of it the one time I tried to watch it. This is pretty much the one bit of it that I found memorable:

I haven't done any other Mike Judge movies besides Office Space and Extract, but I really like his humor (and he's from Austin I think!) and animated work. But that's kind of the style of humor I tend to like- kind of dry, maybe, is the proper term. But I also like it when things are a bit silly, but not over the top.

I heard Don't Mess with the Zohan" is funny, but I've never watched it myself because I find Adam Sandler to be a bit too goofy and overdone for the most part. I'm not sure what it is, because I do like Russel Brand/Get Him to the Greek...

I've also heard good things about Airplane, The Big Lebowski, Chasing Amy and Beverly Hills Cop.

I don't watch comedy films very often, but the above films are some of my favorites. I've probably forgotten to mention quite a few films, but whatever . . . :wtf:

Idiocracy is a pretty good one too. It's the reason I can't go into any "big box" store without quietly saying "Welcome to Costo...I love you" to myself (even though there's not actually a CostCo around here).

I actually saw Office Space in the theater when it first came out. I think I was one of the few people who did since I think it was one of those movies that didn't do real well in theaters but became a big hit on video/dvd. I recall that the professor who taught a business writing class I took a few years back quoted from it all the time.

I've never seen Extract.

I think there's supposed to be some new Beavis and Butthead stuff coming out sometime, but I don't know when that is.

And, yes, Mike Judge does live/work in Austin.

Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (funnier than the first one)
Dumb & Dumber
Liar Liar (mostly for the bit when he yells "I object your honor and I move to strike!")
Me, Myself and Irene
Basically any of Jim Carrey's earlier works where he goes way over the top in his roles

40 Year Old Virgin
Napoleon Dynamite (I'm from Idaho - enjoying this movie is practically mandatory for me!)
Billy Madison

If you are still looking for a good laugh kasmanaft08, I would have to seriously? suggest any of the:
"National Lampoons Vacation" films starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D' Angelo

Also, if you can find them with subtitles the three "Flodder" films are a real hoot, they're Dutch I think but, I would be happy to be corrected ; ]

One of my all time favourite comedy films is Withnail and I (1986). The Monty Python films are great too with their intelligent humour. Crocodile Dundee is another favourite too.

Didn't even know those movies were known to anyone outside of The netherlands (well, except Germany, but they have them dubbed).

The "Flodder" movies were funny back in the day though.

As far as older movies go, Dr. Strangelove and Annie Hall. I haven't found anything recently that I really liked. I think my most recent favorite is probably Meet the Parents. That's pretty horrifying. >.> I guess I'm picky.

recommending 'the ringer' with johnny knoxville in it,for any comedy fan.
its a film where he rigs the special olympics to pay for an operation of a illegal immigrant man whose fingers were cut off when he was cutting his grass, its very funny,it actualy happened in real life;well in the intelectualy disabled section of the paralympics it did; a good few years ago when one whole countries team were found to be faking it for the money so its perhaps where johnny got inspiration from.
a lot of people complained about the ringer when it came out getting offended on behalf of us,but its the only disability themed film by far to have used genuinely intelectualy disabled actors [most of them in the film are disabled] and music by the kids of widney high [an american special school for severely/profoundly ID students].
