driving with other people in the car

Does anyone hate driving with other people in the car if you are the one driving? If I'm a passenger I prefer if there is another passenger so I can sit in the backseat.

People talking to me while I'm driving makes me so nervous and I've asked people to be quiet and they get very offended. I also like to stay in the right lane and it makes people irritated. I told them to get their own ride if they don't like the way I drive.

Also cannot stand it when people talk to me from the street when I'm driving. It makes me think that I did something very wrong and I get REALLY anxious and nervous IMMEDIATELY. I don't want to sound insensitive but I've gotten into arguments with homeless people about this. Its so distracting and it takes a long time for me to calm down.

Yes, I dislike driving with adult passengers, especially if they talk to me. I'm used to driving with my kids in the back and I can tune them out about half the time. The rest of the time I'm telling them to be quiet!

I also find it close to impossible to concentrate on driving while listening to music, especially music that I know.

I don't know just yet. I'm going into training this week. I imagine I'll have no trouble handling the vehicle. I don't know how I'll handle a bus but it's been my experience that most are fairly quiet. Plus, Federal law is pretty explicit about people not talking to or distracting the driver.

The only two people I don't like to have in the car while I'm driving are my sister and brother in law. First of all, my sister drives more aggressively than me, and on the freeway, I prefer to stay in the right lane and drive as slow as I can get away with, while she insists that I drive in a way I don't feel comfortable, while my brother in law drives like a maniac, when he gets behind the wheel, he turns into Dale Jr. on race day at Talladega, he drives very offensively(I learned to drive defensively, he was taught offensive driving), and on the freeway, when he sees a speed limit sign, he somehow thinks the minimum allowable speed is at least 15 mph faster. In other words, I don't like to be in the car with him no matter who's driving(I only tolerate him in general due to the fact he's married to my sister)...

It does not bother me to drive with other people because I trust my driving ability. However, I do not like riding with other people because I usually do not trust their driving ability.

When you drive people around, you have intrinsic power over them. For example, whenever you set off, every passenger sets off. When you change lanes, every passenger changes lanes along with you. When you turn, every passenger turns.
And when you break a road rules, every passenger breaks them too, in the sense of involuntary transgression. Yet the penalties for things like speeding and red light running appear to be the same regardless of passenger count.

I don't mind driving with other people when I'm in my own car, as long as they don't talk to me all the time. I don't like being in someone eles's car, because I don't like having to listen to their (usually) crappy music, and they can easily change their agenda which I don't like.

music with alot of static patterns keeps me attentive sometimes if there isn't anyone on the road, but in heavy traffic its much better with no music or talk radio (though I never even pay attention to talkradio sometimes, unless it is cartalk which I find hilarious!)

I totaled a car once because of loud music and loud people in a car. Everyone was ok but this was also a factor. I think People think I'm stingy because I don't like to be the one driving.

I am actually the opposite. I don't mind driving if there are others in the car, although I do feel a little awkward when it's just me and one other person. I always have music playing, but not the radio. Bad music distracts me. I need something I can fall into step with without thinking about it. Stops me from daydreaming too much.
