Does anyone else have this problem?

Once I get the hang of a new task; if it's repetitive, and practice it often enough I am lightning quick.

Driving a golf cart for the first time, for me, would be exciting. I'd be far too curious to learn it's capabilities to be worried about whether or not I was driving it like others.
(But I have a fascination with driving)

I may not pick up some techniques or skills as quickly as others. I presume it's because of how my understanding works. I like to see a bigger picture and where this skill fits in to it.

Yeah I'm like that.

I learned typing at a very early age because "they" said I'd never be able to do "joined up" writing.

On the contrary I can write, quite neatly and my spelling and grammar has always been excellent.

Another example is my Martial Arts training, I did a mock grading yesterday lunch time, and will find out tonight if I'm eligible for the proper grading on the 27th, and I bet he'll tell me I need to slow down on the pattern.

All the moves are there, but I do it probably far too fast.

I don't really have a point to this post, I guess, but does anyone else have a problem with not being able to do things as quickly as other people, and them getting annoyed by it?

With some things, yes, I am a lot slower than other people. It has caused a lot of painful misunderstanding and difficulty in my life....people think I'm being slow on purpose, that I could go faster if I cared/tried harder (when I do care and am doing my best already).

(Not with everything, though -- there are some things I can do faster than others, and other things I can do at about the same speed as most people....which is part of what confuses others when it comes to the things it takes me an abnormally long time to do.)

Am on the verge of losing yet another job I hate because of the "slowness" issue. IKR to just about every post in this thread.

Yeah 20 years ago I lost a decent job working on the till in the food and baby department at Boots' because they said I was too slow on the till :(

I can't help being disabled and awkward with my hands, they were supposed to be "good for disabled employees" FFS! So much for that idea.
