Crystals, Rocks, and Minerals

This is an example of one of my recent finds (here in Florida) of yellow calcite. I found these two at one of the local parks nearby a lake. The next time I go to that park, I will spend more time and try to find a very beautiful and much larger specimen to display. I found these rather quickly.

It's great fun to find Earth's treasures within their respective settings.

I have a decent crystal and rock collection. I used to have big Tupperware containers full but when my old house flooded I lost a lot of them. I still a few small ones that I love. I also use crystals in my practice with Wicca. I Love the colors. I took physical geology in college while it was hard I did enjoy it (I think my visual impairment made it harder to see all the things)

That's very cool. :) I have different places which my crystals reside. I have different ones scattered about the house. I have others in a wooden/glass display case (I have 2 of those display cases in total) I have some in pouches with drawstrings. I also have quite a bit in my bookshelf (which is the favored location in which the majority reside) The colors are wonderful. I find the colors provide a rewarding experience or at least assist in the overall collecting experience. You mentioned you still have small ones...are they tumbled stones? Those are wonderful to collect because they are highly cost-effective and one can easily collect many different varieties. What are some of your favorite crystals to work with? Or alternatively, what are some of your favorites overall?

OMG so I feel like I just came home to my peoples. I have been on this forum for only an hour and I have already found so many things to comment on. I can't believe I am finding people I have stuff in common with.

Ok, sorry about the side trip, I have lots of rocks, my mom owns a rock shop, (she is totally Asperger's too, but she is cool and totally supports my choices and follows her own path as well (this disclaimer is added because I have a friend being raised by 2 Aspies and they are so involved with their own stuff that they ignore their kids (be awesome folks obsess about making cool babies :D ))), Blah! ok back to rocks...

I am in Michigan love rock hunting and rocks. They are awesome. I just went hunting for leland Bluestone and Frankfort green. I found carlevoix stone, a roller rock, and petoskey... and a rock shop up north where I bought a big piece of Ulexite. I also make stone jewelry and wire wrap some of my stones. May have to post on here when I have an unidentified specimen <3

I wonder what similar rocks is there in Ontario since it near your state? You don't need to answer but curious

Well, if your near the lakes anything that's common to glacial melt, also you can find geology maps online for fossil layers, aside from that it just depends on what atoms and molecules decided to be there.

I've had a few passing research binges on rocks, gems, classifications of both, and earthy stuff. It was my favorite subject in science class. As for collecting, I just like to collect river stones that are smooth. One of my favorites is a big, flat grey one with light streaks on it.
