Childhood memory

At first, I always doubted myself as an autistic. I have every general autism experience, but I'm not really sure about sensory issues. But now, I've started to recognize some things that bother me (sensory issues). Today, I laughed myself off when I remembered that when I was a kid I used to play slime with gloves because I hate that sticky stuff in my hands 🤣

Reminds me of how the next greatest toy would hit my neighborhood in Virginia in the 60s.

In this case, it included "Super Stuff". Basically slime you made like jello, but played with it.

I always hated having sticky fingers, I don't mind my hands being dirty as long as they're not sticky. That was the downside of hunting my own food, blood and gore doesn't bother me at all but getting my fingers all sticky does.

When I was 5-ish, I was asked to a neighbor kid's taffy-pull. Of course, I had no clue what that was, but I knew taffy was candy, so I went. The first thing the host did was to put butter on everyone' hands so that the taffy wouldn't stick. I saw everyone else getting buttered, but since I had never had any significant amount of butter on my hands before, so I didn't object when it was my turn.

Immediately afterward, I noticed the greasy feeling. I wanted it off. I knew it was rude to just leave, but I HAD to get that stuff off. My grandparents were currently visiting, so I had my out. I explained that I had to go home right then to see my grandparents and didn't wait for a response. I don't remember if I actually ran, but I definitely hurried home to get that butter off my hands!
