Can't change email address

Aspergirl4hire

Mage, Sage, Revolutionary
On entry of the password for the new address, error message promptly tells me that my password is not correct.

Since I assume the password is for the new email address, how can it not be correct? Doesn't it need that to actually send the notification of an update to the account?

[This is another weary step in a miserable email migration experience. I am dumping the old account entirely since it got merged with a similarly named account.]

I think it means the password you use to log in here with, not the one for the new email address. Forum staff please correct me if I am wrong.

I'd better document another assumption I'm making: that dumping my email doesn't mean I dump my login username--that my login username is just a login.

Based on my experience with other forums, you should be able to change your email address and keep your current user name, yes. I'm sure a staff member will correct me if you need to take steps to keep your user name.
