Better with big groups or small groups?

Are you better at socializing with bigger groups or smaller groups?

For me it depends. Sometimes in bigger groups I find it hard to talk and socialize, yet other times if there's multiple smaller conversations going on within the group I could maybe participate in one of them (as opposed to one big conversation between everyone). Also with bigger groups, there's a wider range of topics that come up in conversation due to there being more people.

I find that in smaller groups, I am either very good or very quiet. I'm good and talkative if there is someone that I know and can talk to about different things. If I'm in a small group with people I don't know, then it makes it difficult for me to have a conversation and usually everyone will be quiet. Also with smaller groups there's more pressure to talk and you can't really fade into the background like you can with bigger groups.

So for me, it really depends on who is in the group.

In terms of socialising, I can tend to get lost in big groups. It is too easy for your insecurities to kick in, to feel like you are intruding in any conversation you join, or that you are monopolising someone's time with your dinosaur monologue or whatever.

I am comfortable talking to big groups, but mingling socially is a different story.

Small groups are usually (but not always) easier for me. Less wandering around and feeling out of place.

Groups larger then 2 persons are not my thing. So the bigger the group the less i like it. I've developed a distinct misanthropic streak. Sometimes i look around and i see furtive little primates scuttling about doing their preprogrammed thing. I often feel bad for being human myself.
It's not a very pleasant species. I like my dog more.

Exactly the same for me, I like small groups, but when there is someone in the group I know. Not always though.. I remember a few times when I was with a friend and a friend of her I didn't know.. and of course they talked a lot and I didn't know what to say :/

I like big groups because it's easier to slip away if I feel uncomfortable and nobody really notices me leaving or draws attention to it like they would if the group was smaller. That was the one thing I liked about the canteen at school, though I wouldn't usually choose to be there. But I don't mind smaller groups, depending on who is in the group. It means a lot when people include me but that doesn't always happen, especially with people my own age. At school I often found myself on the outside looking in.

I do better in small groups, because it's easier for me, to follow the conversation, and people are less likely to talk over me. I also have a small group of friends, so that could be another reason, that small groups are easier for me.
