Anyone here know about this game? I'd say it might be a bit niche, at least flying under the radar a bit amongst more than a few AAA titles out now, but a few of the devs previous games, like Getting over it, were pretty popular in their own right. From the look of that one, I could tell it would be too frustrating for me to play, but something about this one piqued my curiosity. Maybe it's just that the game seemed to be making fun of Death Stranding. The devs have said they'd taken inspiration from it, at least. Around two hours into it so far, I'd say I've definitely had more fun with it, more actively engaged, and don't feel the same level of pretentiousness coming off it with how humorous it is. It doesn't seem to be as punishing as Getting over it unless you really screw up bad, but also asks more of the player than Death Stranding where it felt much of the time the game sort of just played itself.
What's most interesting to me is how therapeutic it feels so far, which is a bit at odds with what games I usually find relaxing. Wind Waker, Okami, Shadow of the Colossus, the Red Dead Redemption games, GTA4, Saints Row 2, even Deadly Premonition and No More Heroes a bit, all relaxing to just either drive or sail or ride or run around in and just exist in the world, especially those with more dynamic weather and time systems. Just a way to turn off the brain a bit. I think Baby Steps has that aspect of nature, but it always has you thinking of where you're going to place your next step, keeping you a bit more engaged than many of those. I'm not opposed to more difficult games, love many more action based games, have beaten God Hand and many of Platinum's games, hope to one day finish a single Fromsoft game and maybe Devil's Third lol. But I find many of the ones mentioned prior to be more towards my favorite. A bit early to say but I think Baby Steps strikes a good balance similar to some Kirby games for me, like Kirby's Adventure or Forgotten Land where I still struggled on some things, but never for long.
