Street dance classes for people with autism are to be launched in Plymouth after almost £10,000 of funding was given to a new exciting project.

A cash boost was given to 79 schemes across the South West from the Big Lottery Fund, which totalled £3.2 million given to worthy enterprises.

Among the projects, the Street Factory Community Interest Company was handed £9,790 towards its new classes.

The project, called No Limits, will use the funding to run weekly hip hop theatre workshops for young people with disabilities and conditions including autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The funding will enable participants to engage in activities where they can integrate with other peers, develop their skills and gain confidence.

On its website, the street dance company says: "We improve their [young peoples] health and wellbeing, on many occasions preventing the exclusion of young people on the edge of society, unlocking their individual potential, challenging and changing stereotypical perceptions.

"All our workers feel most fulfilled when they ensure that these young people, no matter their background, have the chance to be the best they can be, doing something they love."
