Autism Services in Iowa and Illinois

I have a 5-year-old son with autism. We live now in Ohio and we are receiving some treatment benefits from the county we live in, in addition to the Autism Scholarship Program (36k per year) which is provided by the State.

We plan on moving to Iowa (Iowa City) or Illinois (possibly Naperville). I myself will be moving to Iowa city, IA to study a graduate degree program, and I am considering relocating my family to the best possible place for autism treatment and services. So I am considering Iowa and Illinois.

I would like to know if there is state-funded services in Illinois that my son would benefit from. Also, which State of the two do you think is faster and easier to provide autism services for low income families.

Thanks in advance for helping!

Howdy! I can't suggest either state as faster, but in either state, be sure to enroll with The Department of Developmental Services.

Next, find a local chapter of The Arc. Ask which chapter closest to you has an Autism NOW Center.

Best success! :)

Can you give me any links for Ohio though? I only found out I had it less than 2 years ago and my son will be starting school next fall and the idea for sending him to a botched public scares the shiz out of me...
