Are there any metaphors you actually like/find fun to use?

I've used it in so many other threads, so I can't not list it here:

a blank stare "like cows at a passing train"

-- it's a quote from a song that was a big hit in the 80s (yes, I've been using it all this time) but no one ever seems to get the reference. The most common response (face-to-face) is that they give me the blank stare I just described … which just tickles me to bits!
 
"Shattered like a glass goblin" immediately came to my mind (thanks to Harlan Ellison) BUT-----
that's a simile, not a metaphor.

Macaroni-face...not a lot of fun, actually. The 'enriched' semolina type macaroni. Not whole-wheat.
