My brother says that there are 3 kinds of response you get when you offer some excess apples.

- apple sauce folk who like savoury things
- cider for who like a drink
- apple pie for the sweet toothed among us

When I lived in Upstate New York, I picked Northern Spies off the tree. They were superb. The next day I found them less interesting. Some sort of ester had left the apples.

During the same time period, I would visit the Cornell Apple orchards in Ithaca, NY. You could smell the apples from the parking lot. There were a hundred varieties or more. I loved picking out samplings.

It’s difficult to get good apples in Florida. The only good ones I’ve found here are Kiku and one other 4 letter name that also starts with K, but I can’t remember it.

Apples don't grow well in the South. I think it's too hot and humid here. We do have a lot of wild crabapple trees on our land which produce tiny little apples loved by the birds and our crazy donkeys which try to stand on their hind legs to snag a bite of crabapple tree branch.

I like most apples, except red apples cause they're too mushy

If they're crunchy I'll probably love them, like granny smith apples

I have some cosmic crisp apples in my kitchen right now. Those are my fave.

Do you love apples?

I know I despise Granny Smith and Red Delicious, but I like most other varieties
You dislike the texture, the tartness, the sweetness, or the what?

I ticked OK. That's how I feel about apples. I rarely buy them for general eating.
I prefer to drink apples. Juice and ciders. I don't like apple pie.
Fresh, raw and the ones on the tangy side when I do occasionally eat them.
I LOVE Dutch apple pie!
