Sorry I did not introduce myself on the way in, but that's typical I believe.

I did not plan to have my life turned upside down at age 64 with the knowledge I am Aspie. It was not on my must-do-before-I-die list, but I guess I have to get used to it. Glad to be meeting like minded folk at last.

I don't think anyone expected it at all (it was definitely a surprise for me) but it helps to explain many things that have happened in the past; as you've probably already realised.
 
At a late age it was also a bit of a shock for me as well. However more importantly it was an answer as to "why" after a lifetime of frustration and alienation to others.
