Am I too obsessed sometimes?

I'll try to keep this brief... Last year the sport of skijordue debuted locally, for those who don't know, its people on skis being pulled by either a horse or a dog, in our case it was horses...

When they did it last year (for the first time as an event and competition), I only had short notice of it and could only stay for three hours due to a prior commitment, and I wasn't entirely happy with my photo results because I didn't have a long zoom lens...

This year? It's happening again, the event that is, when I purchased my ticket I saw something that indicated they would cancel it if the temperature got too low, the number of -15 Celcius was mentioned, in which case they would refund the money for everyone who has paid...

The reality so far, we are coming into a few days of colder winter weather, and I would say that there is a decent chance they will cancel the event, not sure if there is an alternate date, nothing has been announced yet about Saturday... But I am constantly analyzing the weather forecast, freaking out in my head... Why? I can tell you exactly why...

For one thing, I want to redeem myself for lack of results last year as I now have a long zoom lens, exactly for things like this, and secondly I do want to spend the whole day there this time unlike the three hours last year...

If they do cancel the event I feel like it will ruin my weekend plus all the cold weather coming our way, now I know things like this happen all the time, and it is winter with potential for something like this, plus everyone else is also missing the event... But I still fret, maybe I'm the only one fretting, I am trying not to over-think this whole thing but as hard as I try I'm still stressing myself out...

And coming back to my recent thoughts about being thankful more? I'm finding it hard right now... And I also realize that so far I am jumping to conclusions...

I sort of understand how you feel. I plan and plan for something and then something out of my control changes those hours, or days of planning... I sort of get lost but usually can come up with an alternative...

In your case maybe photo the weather event that is messing up your plans?
Not sure if that would help but I do sort of get what you are saying.

I think that when our plans get messed up... Thats a pretty big deal for some (maybe most) of us on the so called Spectrum.

I'm not sure your overly obsessing, its just ASD reminding us who we are... : )

"And now for the official Aspie response": :p

I don't think we can ever be really too obsessed about anything. It's who we are and what we do. ;)

Often leaving it to be an asset or a liability and seldom anything in between.

I just feel (very strongly) that I need a re-do on this event, to make up for last year, almost like settling a score with myself, in a manner of speaking... We'll see what happens by the weekend... I once photographed an outside electronic dance party in mid-January, at a balmy -22 Celcius... :D And the weather forecast is still crappy for the weekend... o_O

It's official... The event is... Has been re-scheduled... I just have to wait one more week, it would have been -18 likely on Saturday, I think too hard on the horses so I've been told...

Hey Y’all. It’s too darn cold.
We are bumping Skijordue to Saturday, Feb 10.
Everyone has the option to keep or refund their tickets & entries.
Entries are open again.
We hope you can all join us next weekend!
