If you want to check out a decent parody of '80s action movies, go to YouTube and watch Kung Fury. I can't link to it here due to some blood and some foul language contained within it, though.

As a fan of Synthwave music, I love David Hasselhoff's song for Kung Fury:

Die Hard 1-4, Lethal Weapon 1-4, Terminator movies 1 & 2, I liked a lot of 80's/90's action movies, but haven't seen a great deal since then that has impressed me.

I love action movies. My recent favorites are the John Wick series and "Atomic Blonde" with Charlize Theron. I love "Collateral" made in 2004 with Tom Cruise. Excellent movie if no one's ever seen it. I love the James Bond series too.

I have noticed that, for some reason, Tom Cruise's best movies are the ones where he is some sort of a-hole. Edge of Tomorrow being another example. Short appearance in Tropic Thunder and so on.

He was a total jerk in Vanilla Sky, and I thought that was a great film.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy is my first love, but after that I do enjoy a good action movie. Hard Core Henry, Guns Akimbo, Crank, John Wick. Things that go boom can be very entertaining when you don't want an overly involved plot line.

I also really like straight up B for the sake of B Movie action stuff. Like Frank Grillo movies, particularly liked Boss Level. Love that he's been offered bigger budget projects and he's like no, I like this niche.

Yeah, basically anything that 8711 and 87 North are doing the past ten years is going to be solid. Chad and co. being behind the Highlander remake (trilogy - he's giving us three films to tell the story of just the first, OG film) should net us some sword based action that we have been missing (outside of the few Korean / Japanese filmmakers who do it well). The Queen songs are confirmed to be in the films, as well.

Action movies appear increasingly staged - esp. with media's images of real life situations.

This is esp. true with the action movies from the 1960s and 1970s I enjoyed as a kid. I've located trailers to these old action movies - movies appeared very staged present day.
