I’ve had this happen on numerous occasions at work. I live in a small, rural place for context. We have a lot of reoccurring customers come in at my job, some I know by name.

I just feel so embarrassed.

Worse perhaps when someone recognizes you and for whatever reason you mistake them for being someone else, left in a state of confusion. That happened to me once. Yeah...embarrassing but after the fact.
