    Am I jinxed?

I used to lose things all the time! It seemed like gremlins were following me around and taking my things! I finally figured out the way to make it stop is to put my things in places where I'll look for them. I have a place near my computer where I put a pile of "pocket things", and everything...

Does Sensory Processing Disorder cause me to be itchy?

It's not tactile hypersensitivity. I'm not saying I don't have it (I do have it), but it doesn't match my symptoms. The itchiness isn't connected with anything touching the skin. I'd better check with my doctor for liver disease. As I have abused alcohol a number of times in the past, it is a...

How long did it take for you to accept you were autistic?

I have lived as a neurotypical up to the age of 33. Despite knowing I was odd, I was unable to determine why. And when others saw me struggling, they almost universally assumed that I wasn't trying as hard. I convinced myself of that. I lived my life trying way harder and succeeding way less...

Does Sensory Processing Disorder cause me to be itchy?

I was reading about stimming last night (turns out I stim almost constantly, who knew) and was fascinated to learn that it can be connected with Sensory Processing Disorder. After reading about SPD, I was able to recognize a few of the symptoms to a minor extent in myself. While I don't struggle...

School is Boring Because I Don't Feel Challenged

I found school really boring and unchallenging, but that just made me struggle because I couldn't pay attention during class to learn the material. I feel like I learned more than the other kids in class because I was always reading the book, and I'd get to many parts that we never approached in...

    Is My Shirt on Backwards?

Some shirts feel like they are twisted a bit no matter how I adjust them.

I also saw a lion when the image was small. It looks like a blue morpho butterfly over a fantasy moon when you look close, but when seen as a small image it looks like a lionness using her vomeronasal organ to smell something she finds weird.

    Girl time/Female friends for Aspies

I think it's a combination of societal impact and their own instincts. Since they tend to think alike, they are prone to agreeing with the societal trends. In different cultures, women act differently, but there are a lot of similarities with NT women in any culture. In my city, women seem to...

Is it just me, or does your morpho avatar merge with its background to create a winking lion?

Are series and movies representation of autism realistic?

I had quite the crush on River Tam from Firefly despite her being primarily a Rain Man stereotype. I think it's a fun character archetype to play with in film. I'd love to see more realism in depictions of characters with autism, though I won't mind if they only show the attractive side of...

    Is My Shirt on Backwards?

I feel the same way. I need the collar to be the right shape and orientation, no label I can feel, nothing scratchy, no seams I notice, and most importantly it needs to be the right material. I wear almost exclusively cotton because nearly everything else feels like nails against a chalkboard...

In a very difficult, romantic situation.

I guess I just don't put much value into the arbitrary idea of a relationship. Every real relationship is complicated, and how important it is is really up to the people involved. If she loves him but will quickly dump him to go for you, it's a good indicator she might dump you just as quickly...

Why is it common for people with Asperger’s/HFA to have higher-than-average IQs?

They give you quite a lot of time on an IQ test. I'm a very slow test taker and yet on the Mensa practice test I was easily able to finish within the time allotted.
