    Condiment Thread

Here are my favorite condiments: I shake up 1 part lemon juice with 9 parts good (non-virgin) olive oil. I use it on salad, tomato salad and very thin pieces of sirloin/entrecote (5-10 seconds in a pan on max heat). The lemon juice helps so the olive oil doesn't become bitter. sprinkle with sea...

How to Help an Aspie Husband Cope in a Foreign Land? (while staying sane)

The last months I have been able to do some housework, and it helps my mood and asthma very much. After I explained to my girlfriend that I need to have a system (what goes where) in order to get things done, it goes much better. It does not have to be my system, but we need to use the same...

    My 17 yr old son

I read somewhere that regular comorbid conditions for autism is stomach problems. I was in and out of the hospital when I was between 2 and 5 years old because of my, let's just say, explosive tendencies in the lower intestines. I've always had a sensitive stomach. I found out a few years ago...

    My 17 yr old son

Yes! Exactly. Getting the diagnosis is a good thing. It helps seeing that the Neurotypical frame does not fit, and gives him a frame with a better fit for him. It can help so much with accepting, and even appreciate the different impression of existence. The expectation from society, people and...

Empathy and YOUR feelings as an AS person

This! For me it is not necessarily getting to the right conclusion by intuition, but like some energy that gets absorbed and overloads me. Analyzing helps me identify the sources (not always correct), but I think the analytical approach have developed as a response to the initial intensity of...

Empathy and YOUR feelings as an AS person

For me, empathy and the right response in a situation, can also drown in other sensations. It is not that I am not feeling them, it is more like some other sense craves all my attention in order to maintain myself. In some situations. I am to occupied masking correctly most of the time.

Empathy and YOUR feelings as an AS person

For me it is the intensity that are tough to manage. It uses a lot of *energy. And my sometimes intense concentration (Although I find pleasure in intense concentration it still uses a lot of energy). *energy meaning how nutrients gets distributed by the body. To add to my above post: I think...

Empathy and YOUR feelings as an AS person

Yes, and in a way it is similar as with other sensory input. I can stim to alleviate some of the too intense bodily sensations when it gets too much (harder to do with sounds), but emotional responses are tough to deal with. And my mind is very hard to slow down when it gets momentum...

Empathy and YOUR feelings as an AS person

I have not yet gotten an official diagnosis (the neurotests said I fill the criterias, but it is dawning on me that my therapist unfortunately sees intelligence as a factor that rules out ASD in her mind, so I have to start anew with another one. So I have had my fair share of breakdowns...

School is Boring Because I Don't Feel Challenged

I stopped caring in my second year of preschool. First the teachers handed me old math books at the same level, and I ran through them in no time. Then I got the books on higher levels, and was accused of cheating since I did the math in my head and not on paper (But how could I have cheated, I...
