Moving out, sharing a room at dorm

I don't want to be a "party-pooper' but I think you ought to be prepared for some difficulty. It was time for me to go to college: my father drove me there (10 hours!) and when we arrived, I went straight to my dorm room; 3 beds in a 10' x 12' room! I freaked out. By the time my father arrived...

Do People Think You Are Blaming Them?

No - I'm saying that IF a person wants to understand what "is happening (which is the question) then one needs to understand how social people "think". The individual Asperger can choose how they wish to use that information.

What do you think causes ASD?

Oh dear! There is no "cause" for ASD - ASD is a "grab bag" for what are considered to be defects in development. ASD IS NOT A MEDICAL CONDITION. It's a system for labeling individuals who have "social" difficulties for many different reasons, from birth defects to, to learning problems, to...

Do People Think You Are Blaming Them?

I think that there is a real social issue here that has to do with "status" Social status dictates rules of behavior (which makes no sense to us as Aspies). A "high status" person (teacher, boss, doctor, parent etc)is allowed to be rude; to criticize or command a lower status person to do...

    My family is bullying me

Someone said, "You don't have to attend every argument you're invited to" Good Advice! Dump these people.

    Not able to explain emotions.

A clip from one of my posts on this topic: aspergerhuman.wordpress.com "That is, emotions are not simple in Aspergers, but are tied into a complex web of other functions: pain as a physical reaction to the environment, is what social people call emotion. My reactions to the environment are...

    "Blending In"

I'm retired and finally able to pick and choose when and if I want to be social. Looking back, I wasted a lot of time with people who could not, or would not understand any "diversity" in human behavior. Be yourself; don't take it to heart when people don't respond or react negatively. You won't...

Will I Ever Meet Someone Will Delivery On The Things They Say?

Asperger people have instinctive values about honesty, loyalty, telling the "truth" and being direct in our communication. We also tend to treat everyone as equal and worthy of respect. This is NOT how society works; social people are driven by status. Status comes from putting other people...

    Autistic Girlfriend, I am depressed

If her behavior is so "bothersome" to you, why you want to be friends? What's the point????

    Sounds this like Asperger-women symptoms?

That didn't stop you from "supplying" info and addressing her comcerns, but I guess you're a "queen!"

    Sounds this like Asperger-women symptoms?

THE FACT IS: ASD is NOT A MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS. If it were, a medical doctor (psychiatrist) would be the required diagnostician, but psychologists and "therapists" diagnose ASD - they are NOT qualified medical professionals - they are trained in psychological theories and do not have medical degrees.

Small Talk (How much does it bother you?)

Social typical people crave attention, so if they speak to you at all, just say something "flattering" like, How creative! I never would have thought to make peanut butter sandwiches for lunch! That is, be sarcastic (How creative!) but make it sound like a compliment. Useful words: Fantastic...

    Sounds this like Asperger-women symptoms?

What everyone needs to know is that Asperger's ASD IS NOT A MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS. It's a "grab bag" of behaviors judged to indicate "abnormal behavior" caused by anything from premature birth to childhood trauma, to "antisocial" personality types! Before seeking an Asperger ASD diagnosis, a...

Why autistic people like me need to help shape autism science

Unfortunately, much research that claims to be "autism science" isn't science at all. It's based on archaic and outdated psychological concepts that hinder "real" objective hypothesis and experimentation; autism is a mess of "social symptoms" that lump together people under invented disorders -...

    Friend difficult to deal with

As an Asperger female with an Asperger father, I see this from two perspectives: I "understood" my father. No one else in the family did. He could be outright cruel - say outrageous things that really hurt people and jeopardized his job. BUT - he was infinitely patient with my endless "Asperger"...
